Woodstock, ON: Businesses, community organizations and the general public are invited to learn about next year's Oxford Children's Water Festival and get involved.
Organizers will be sharing ways that the community can help host 3,000 students from grades 3-5 with hands-on learning about the importance of water in their lives and in their communities.
When: Wednesday, November 2nd, 2:30 - 4:00 pm
Where: Board of Health Office, Buller Street, Woodstock
Who: Anyone interested in making the 2012 Oxford Children's Water Festival a success!
The Oxford Children's Water Festival opens May 2012. Students, their teachers and parent volunteers will learn all about water - how to conserve and protect it, people's attitudes towards it, and how to apply new technology and science for the future.
"We are excited to be bringing the Children's Water Festival back to Oxford County," says Christina Baranik, Festival Coordinator. "We hope the Festival will awaken children to their connection to water and their role in finding innovative ways to conserve it and to adapt to climate change."
The Festival consists of over 40 interactive activity stations linked to the Ontario Curriculum. The activities are grouped around five themes: water conservation, water attitude, water technology, water protection and water science.
The Festival rotates through London-Middlesex, St. Thomas-Elgin and Oxford County on a three year cycle. It was first hosted by Oxford County in 2009.
